While people are studying hard for professional exam, I did the following:
Tried Godiva Dark Chocolate Cake (RM 15). Pricey for a piece of cake, but totally worth it because of the richness of chocolate. Consists of 3 layers: chocolate mousse, semi-solid chocolate in the mid-layer and chocolate cake base. Topped off with a piece of chocolate truffle, it was so satisfying despite the heaviness of finishing a piece of chocolate cake all by myself. Rated 9.5/10 (minus 0.5 for the lack of bitterness which I kinda expect it to have). Really value for money considering it was from Godiva.
Bought a shirt as CNY was approaching, and had some fun with mirrors >.<
Had lunch at Din Tai Fung Restaurant. Tried the Braised Beef Noodle. It was alright. Not sure if it was the MSG which did the trick or what lol. Beef was tender enough. Didn't find anything extraordinary with the La Mian. The Pumpkin Coated with Salted Egg was nice though.
Sigh. I seriously need better time management and resistance towards food addiction....
It was a lonely night. My plan was to complete my case study. Being lonely, I decided to have Bruno Mar's voice to accompany me through the night. It was a nice listen. He is one very talented singer & songwriter.
After looping "Just the way you are" for a few times, the thought of listening to an acoustic cover of it came into my mind. And the best place to look for such thing is none other than Youtube.
Browsing through the search result, a familiar name appeared - Boyce Avenue. Haha, of course. They specialized in performing songs from different artists, injecting their own flavor and essence into the songs. Acoustic version for most of the cover. I got to know them months ago when I stumbled upon their cover of Leona Lewis' Bleeding Love.
Without hesitation, I clicked the link to listen to their cover. I had a strong feeling that this was gonna be good.
I was right. I was beyond right.
The cover was good. Really good. Really really good!I was totally blown away!
You know, my friend Caryn once said, if you never experienced goosebumps from a song, it means you don't love music enough. Well this was not the first time I experienced goosebumps. In fact, this time, I went beyond experiencing goosebumps. I was so excited that I couldn't contain my excitement by just sitting in front of the laptop, looping the song. I was so excited I was unable to continue working on my assignment. I was screaming inside my head. I frantically click here and there, opening windows and programs, looking for a way to download the video in high-def. For the first time, I was willing to go the extra mile to download a music video that I like, without compromising the quality and the voice. Mind you, it was 124MB for an unconverted HD video.
Perhaps I was too excited, and I operated my aging laptop too frantically, my laptop froze!! My aged laptop just couldn't keep up with my song-asm. I had to restart my laptop and went over all the hassle to download the HD video again. =.= Gosh that just prolonged the wait.
By the time I finished the last paragraph, my download had completed. Is it worth spending all night, searching, downloading one single nice song? Is it worth abandoning your assignment, finding a way to get the song you want? Is it worth the time expressing your excitement by blogging about it?
One fine day, I went for Dermatology appointment. Things went well until the moment I stepped out of the clinic. I did not know what to do. Well actually I did, but as usual, my tricky mind would come out with a few options to confuse me.
What to do next? Options: A. Go back to hostel via taxi and study. Expensive fare. Hmmm. B. Go back to hostel via LRT and study. Time consuming. Hmmm. C. Since I am here already, I should go to mall. Watch a movie maybe. Hmm. D. Since I am here already, I should go to mall. Have some good food and stay there to study instead of watching movie. Hmm.
OK it took me 5 minutes just to wander around the taxi station to decide what to do. Being unable to come out with conclusion, I went to stationery store to buy some stuff and buy some time to continue thinking. Stepping out of the store, I decided to choose option D. That led me to another question: which mall? And what to eat? After another round of contemplation, I narrowed it down into a few options:
Which mall and what to eat? Options: A. Times Square. Been wanting to try Wendy's chili corn carne and baked potato. B. Suria KLCC. Been wanting to go to the sky bridge and give Manhattan Fish Market another chance. C. Not going to mall. Instead go to LeVain for the pastries and my favorite mushroom soup.
This time around, I failed to come out with an answer. Frustrated, I decided to just wait for the next available bus and let it decide for me instead. After a short wait, the bus arrived. I would pass by either Bukit Bintang or KLCC. In the bus, I finally decided to go for option A as it was more time saving. Sky Bridge can wait la.
In the bus, I realized my cleanser was leaking coz the cap was loosened, and the content was wetting my bag quickly. I had to get off the bus at KLCC to clean up the mess. After spending 15 minutes cleaning and drying up things in my bag, I quickly headed to Sky Bridge counter, just to realize that the tickets were out for the day. Disappointed, I decided to go for my lunch. To my surprise, MFM was no longer there. Alrite at this stage my plan failed utterly. (=.=) I had to come out with new plans of what to eat.
What to eat now? Options: A. Chilis. Love the food there. But then again I think I should try new restaurant. B. KFC. Their new cheesy volcano snack box looks nice. The keyword: cheese. But then again, having it in KLCC is kinda lame. There is one KFC restaurant right opposite my campus. C. Malones Irish Pub & Restaurant. New restaurant. Irish food. Intriguing.
I did not take long to decide. Option C it was. Entering the restaurant, I had to face another round of decision-making, which had been a real headache for me all the while - what to order?
What to order? Options: A. Beer battered fish and chips. Interesting. However, how different can it be from regular fish & chips? B. Beef burger with loaded fries. What do they mean with loaded fries? Fries loaded with cheese? I would want to have that if that's the case. Again, keyword: cheese. C. Mustard baked chicken. Nice illustration. But, I really feel like trying some real Irish food. D. Guinness Beef Stew. Wow alcohol-infused beef. True Irish food. I should be adventurous a bit. A bit more expensive than the rest though.
Damn it. It took me 10-15 minutes to ponder. After weighing the pros and cons, making some stupid assumptions, I decided to go for option D. Turned out the beef stew was kinda below my expectation. Not sure if I can taste alcohol from the dish. But the portion was big though. Easily met at least half of my daily protein requirement.
Guinness Beef Stew
After spending some time studying and peeping around (hehe my another hobby), I decided to go back. This time, I had to decide on mode of transportation.
How to go back? Options: A. By bus, to Bkt Bintang, then switch to bus U45 to destination. But waiting for U45 will take forever. B. By bus, to Titiwangsa, then by LRT to BTS, then by bus to destination. Troublesome, but it may be faster than option A, and it is cheap. C. By bus, to Maluri, then by taxi to destination. Expensive. D. By taxi, from KLCC to destination. More expensive. Might be ripped off if unfortunate.
Initial plan was option A. However, I missed the bus as I wasn't paying attention while waiting. Had to go for option B instead as the bus to Titiwangsa arrived next.
Finally arrived hostel an hour later to put an end to this stupid failed mind algorithm.
Ain't I super-analytical or what?
Darn it I just can't let my heart take over my brain when it comes to decision making. Not even once in a while.
Next round of decision making - which hospital to choose for HO-ship. >.<
